The end could be in sight for a drivers' nightmare which had been dubbed 'Rocky Road' by motorists in October 1984. Trouble began when Yorkshire Water installed a mains trench and then supply pipes to houses along Greenhill Road. The hoiles were resurfaced with tarmac - and left proud to allow for settlement. Ever since motorists and their cars took a hammering as they travelled rollercoaster-style along the road. West Yorkshire County Council said the problem could soon be sorted out. "There has to be a time lag between the Water Authority leaving and us having a look at it because of the settlement problem," said spokesman. "We will look at it in the future when settlement has had the chance to take place. We will make sure then that it has been re-instated to our satisfaction as a highway authority." Photo: YPN
