These turn back the clock to celebrate life around the south Leeds suburb during the 1960s. It was the decade which featured the community being used as the backdrop for film This Sporting Life and pub culture playing a big part in the life of residents who called Drig home back in the day. The images are a mix from the David Atkinson Archive and others published courtesy of photographic archive Leodis, which is run by Leeds Library & Information Service. The signs on the exterior wall of the shop advertise Brooke Bond Tea, Cadels, Lyon's Maid Ice Cream, a Day and Night Service, Woodbine Virginia Cigarettes and Benson and Hedges Sterling. In the window of the shop is advertised Typhoo Tea and Findus Foods. On the right of the window are wall mounted machines selling Spearmints, bubble gum and cigarettes. Originally there were three houses on the right hand side of the pub which were occupied until the 1950s before being demolished. The building has more recently been extended and converted into flats which have retained the name Gashouse Tavern. David Atkinson Archive
