More than 8,000 coronavirus cases now confirmed in Yorkshire as Leeds total jumps by 62

A total of 8,326 people in Yorkshire have now tested positive for coronavirus.

The latest update from the Department of Health, which counts cases confirmed before 12.30am today, shows a rise of 398 cases in Yorkshire since the same time on Thursday.

A further 62 people in Leeds have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the city's total confirmed cases to 1,111.

Sheffield is the worst-hit local authority area in Yorkshire with 1,856 confirmed cases, followed by Leeds.

In the UK, the total number of lab-confirmed cases is 143,464.

The death toll in UK hospitals now stands at 19,506, with 1,371 deaths confirmed in Yorkshire hospitals.

Doncaster - 350

East Riding - 429

Hull (Kingston upon Hull) - 342

Kirklees - 473

Leeds - 1,111

North East Lincolnshire - 114

North Lincolnshire - 257

Rotherham - 573

Sheffield - 1,856

Wakefield - 448

York - 224
