The case rate was just 82 per 100,000 people on September 1 but it began to rise in the two weeks that followed before jumping sharply towards the end of September.

Leeds went into Tier 2 local lockdown restrictions on October 14, and the case rate began to drop significantly from that point.

The national lockdown then followed on November 5, at which point a slight increase can be seen in the following week's data, before dropping again to its lowest point in more than two months.

It is expected that Leeds and West Yorkshire will go back into Tier 3 - the Tier that the region was due to be placed in before the national lockdown began.

In Tier 3, pubs and restaurants will be forced to remain closed and only be able to offer takeaways and delivery.

Non-essential shops, hair salons and gyms will be allowed to reopen but household mixing will still be banned.

Notwithstanding, Boris Johnson has announced details of a Christmas plan which will allow three households to mix for a five-day period over Christmas.
