Airedale Care Home, near Pudsey Park, houses 40 residents and is managed by healthcare company HC One.

The home confirmed the manager has tested positive for coronavirus and says staff are 'encouraged' to book tests if they show symptoms.

Testing is not carried out internally at the home.

A spokeswoman for the home said: “Caring for our residents and supporting our colleagues is at the heart of what we do, and we are doing everything we can to make sure our residents and colleagues stay safe and well throughout these challenging times.

“We have a comprehensive coronavirus contingency plan in place, which was created by our Clinical Director and reflects the latest government guidance.

"The home has strict infection control measures in place, and colleagues are encouraged to book tests where possible if they show symptoms."

Up to 10 million key workers in the UK can now book coronavirus tests online as the Government aims to increase the number of people getting tested for the virus.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said getting "somewhere near" the 100,000 tests a day target would be an achievement by international standards.

More than 1,000 people in Leeds have now tested positive for coronavirus and 150 deaths have been confirmed in the city's hospitals.

There are no confirmed cases of Covid-19 among Airedale Care Home residents and management say they are fully stocked up on medical equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) for staff.

The home says it is providing 'round-the-clock' support for colleagues and wished the manager a speedy recovery.

The spokeswoman added: “The home is being supported by our senior regional team who know our frontline colleagues well, and are working with colleagues to continue to deliver kind care safely.

"If required, we can also draw on additional support from colleagues at sister homes.

“We are working closely with our local health and care partners, and we have taken action to secure the medical equipment, PPE, and supplies we need to protect residents and colleagues alike.

"The home is well stocked with PPE, with stock levels taken daily by the regional management team, with resupply available around the clock from one of our regional supply hubs.

"We are providing round-the-clock support for all our teams, and we are also grateful to relatives for their ongoing support and understanding. We wish our colleague a speedy recovery."
