Coronavirus infection rate drops in Leeds as no new deaths recorded for 13th day

No new coronavirus deaths have been recorded at Leeds hospitals for the 13th consecutive day.

Case numbers and infection rates are also showing a downward trend and the council has urged the public to "stay safe" to keep the figures down.

Leeds had an infection rate of 4.4 new cases per 100,000 people in the seven days to July 24, down from 7.1 for the previous seven days to July 17.

There have been no new deaths recorded at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust since the daily NHS England update on July 15.

Leeds Council tweeted: "Latest Covid 19 figures show Leeds has an average seven day rate of 4.4 cases per 100,000.

"Case numbers and rates are showing a downward trend too so it’s important we all #staysafesavelives and keep the figures down."
