The Government has named the best and worst schools in Leeds for attendance.
This week, the Department for Education released its latest absence and attendance figures, covering the full 2024/25 school year.
It shows which schools are struggling with children not coming to class without permission, which research shows is one of the biggest factors in outcomes for exam results and outcomes in later life.
The overall absence rate decreased to 6.78 per cent across England in 2024/25, down from 7.15 per cent in 2023/24, though is still higher than pre-pandemic levels (4.73 per cent in 2018/19). Both authorised and unauthorised absence decreased; authorised decreased by 0.20 percentage points to 4.48 per cent and unauthorised absence decreased by 0.17 percentage points to 2.30 per cent.
Using this data, the Yorkshire Evening Post has compiled a list of the 11 Leeds secondary schools with the worst attendance record.
