Leeds school closures: Live updated list as heavy snow forces over 30 schools to shut

Snow has been falling since Wednesday but is expected to get heavier as the day goes on, with an amber warning being in place by the Met Office from 3pm until midday tomorrow (Friday) for heavy snow.
The Met Office has warned that “significant disruption” is expected on the roads, trainlines and at Leeds Bradford Airport and that power cuts are expected.

Hide AdThe severe weather is also resulting in schools closures across the city, with over 30 so far having announced that they are closing early and more announcing that they are finishing early as the day goes on.

Live as heavy snow shuts schools across Leeds
Bramley Park Academy
Bramley Park Academy has informed the council that it closed at 12.30pm today due to the worsening weather conditions.
Benton Park School
Benton Park School announced earlier that it was closing the school site at 1.45pm to allow the safe egress and journey home of students and staff given the current snowfall.
Birchfield Primary School
Birchfield Primary School in Gildersome has released the below statement:
Due to the current conditions and the forecast for worsening weather later this afternoon, we have taken the decision to close school early at 2pm this afternoon to allow pupils, parents and staff to return home safely.
Rufford Park Primary School
Rufford Park Primary in Yeadon has posted:
We would like parents to collect their children at 2pm but if you can get here earlier, please collect from 1:15pm. A team of staff will remain on site if an early collection is not possible.
