Abbey Grange Church of England Academy Sixth Form is celebrating its first year in its own bespoke building. In order to provide a more collegiate feel, the academy reshuffled its rooming so that Sixth Form has its own site within the academy with its own entrance, classrooms, study and social areas. Abbey Grange Sixth Form offers the independence of a separate college from the school combined with the nurture, care and support of school pastoral systems meaning it makes the perfect balance between a college and a sixth form.

On GCSE Results Day, Thursday August 25, the Sixth Form will be holding an enrolment day. Once students have received their GCSE Results, they can drop in and secure a place at the Sixth Form for September, or receive some advice and guidance on next steps from the careers team. The academy has already received a wide range of applications but there are still some spaces left. You can apply by emailing [email protected] if you want to secure your place before enrolment day.

The Sixth Form is an incredible place and the academy is exceptionally proud of the achievements of their students. They are what makes the place so special and the staff are proud to work with them to achieve their aspirations whether that be to an apprenticeship, Oxbridge, medicine, politics, conservatoires or on to a University Course of their choice (many students go on to Russell Group Universities). The academy has an exceptional Sixth Form team, led by Director of Sixth Form Steph Hanbridge, who provide interactive lessons, quality feedback and real quality pastoral care. The academy also provides a fantastic Personal Development provision where students complete the EPQ qualification, carry out work experience, support the lower school through community service and supports students through the UCAS process ensuring that they achieve their full potential.

The Christian ethos underpins all this to ensure that, not only are standards and expectations incredibly high but also that the academy offers nurture, support and challenge. Staff want students to thrive academically through an environment of stretch and challenge and to thrive socially and spiritually ensuring they have the confidence to flourish in every type of career and social situation. The academy offers a strong culture of pastoral support and guidance as well as a plethora of experiences to culturally enrich students and get them out of their comfort zone. Staff want to show them the world and help them build what they call their Abbey Character which urges students to try new things and immerse themselves deeply into all areas of their study through a hard work ethic and enthusiasm, curiosity and passion.

Abbey Grange Sixth Form has some of the highest performing A Level results in Leeds and is a wonderful place to study, learn and be challenged. Students are an incredibly diverse mix from all over the City of Leeds and there are buses to get them there from anywhere. With its own bespoke Sixth Form block, students can come and go as they please with plenty of areas to study either with friends or silent study area. The Sixth Form Common Room is also always available with pastoral staff on hand for a chat if you need it.

The academy is immensely proud of this provision and that many students from other schools choose to come to the Sixth Form to study alongside those who stay on from lower school. Staff are looking forward to welcoming new and old faces on GCSE Results Day when you can secure your place at a vibrant, exciting Sixth Form.
