This is the second year that Eden Boys’ Leadership Academy, Bradford has incorporated wheelchair basketball into its sporting output and the school looks forward to continuing to raise awareness, champion paralympic sport and gain further understanding about the dedication required for overcoming barriers to participation in both sport and life.
Intikhab Alam, Teacher of PE at Eden Boys’ Leadership Academy, Bradford said: “Introducing wheelchair basketball to our pupils allows them to experience the sport first-hand, helping them gain a deeper understanding of both the skills required and the challenges athletes face. It’s a unique opportunity to promote empathy, inclusivity and teamwork while also exposing them to adaptive sports that are as competitive and exciting as any other. This experience helps students develop a greater appreciation for diversity in physical abilities and highlights the importance of accessibility in all areas of life.”
