Primark White Rose Shopping Centre video shows huge queue of shoppers across car park on lockdown reopening day

Shoppers queued across the car park for Primark at the White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds on Monday.

Primark-goers lined the centre's car park in a marquee-covered queue - waiting for their turn to enter the store on its first day back after lockdown.

Scenes were similar outside Zara in Leeds city centre as queues saw up to 50 people waiting to get into the clothes retailer.

Restaurants, bars and pubs also opened for outdoor drinking and dining across the city and residents flocked to the city’s beer gardens and roof terraces for a drink and bite to eat.

Back in December 2020, the Primark at the White Rose Shopping centre opened for 24 hours straight to cope with demand after the second national lockdown, and some shoppers queued for hours to be the first back in the Trinity and White Rose Primark stores back in June 2020.

While the White Rose Primark store is not open for 24 hours this time round, it is open from 7am to 10pm on weekdays, 8am to 9pm on Saturdays and 11am to 5pm on Sundays to shoppers.

Under the Government's lockdown roadmap, non-essential retail, hair and close contact beauty salons, pubs, bars and gyms were allowed to reopen on April 12.
