Jon Wray, who holds a masters in exercise science from Leeds Metropolitan University and was a part-time lecturer on its sports science and health-related fitness degree, has more than 20 years’ experience as a health, fitness and conditioning professional.

The Jon Wray Health, Fitness and Wellbeing Studio is based at 12 Park Place, which is well located for professionals based in the city’s historic business district, as well as being close to the new Wellington Place development.

One-to-one sessions mean only the trainer and client are in the studio, making them entirely private. This is an approach which is proving extremely popular during the Covid-19 pandemic and is delivered in adherence to the latest exercise-related public health guidelines.

Jon Wray Health, Fitness and Wellbeing will provide clients with onsite individual male and female changing and showering facilities.

In addition to Mr Wray, the team at the studio will include three other qualified personnel. Chris Loliva has been taken on as a trainer, Martin Assame will be the studio's physiotherapist and Lisa Procter will be the firm's holistic/sports massage therapist.

The team will also offer duo training sessions for two clients with one trainer at the same time as well as socially distanced boot camps.

Mr Wray, who played in the 1992 Challenge Cup Final for Castleford against Wigan, said: “Everything we do at Jon Wray Health, Fitness and Wellbeing is based on understanding the wants and needs of individuals.

"We work across a broad spectrum of people ranging from individuals who want to lose weight and feel more energised to elite athletes looking to further enhance their performance.

“The one thing that unites all our clients is the way we individually assess them in terms of resting measurements such as blood pressure, heart rate, body fat and blood levels, physical tests and analysis of eating habits. We then set specific goals and agree an individual plan to suit that person.

“This activity is supported by our physiotherapy and sports massage offer to further help our clients achieve their objectives. All of this is undertaken within the safe and supportive studio environment we have created.”
