Bradford bakery owner opens new café in Leeds following social media success

Here’s how this new café is bringing American sweets and treats to Leeds 🧁

A Yorkshire baker has said she is “blown away” by the public’s support after opening a new café in Leeds.

Crumbb opened its doors earlier this month on Hyde Park Road, and has quickly built a loyal inner city following.

The cafe’s menu features a delicious range of American-inspired treats including giant cinnamon rolls, flavoursome jammy dodger blondies, and muffins and cookies galore.

For founder Naila Khan, it has been “amazing” to quickly be embraced by Leeds locals.

“I’ve been genuinely blown away by the level of support we’ve received since being here,” Naila told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“I couldn’t have asked for anything more - we’ve been crazy busy.”

Naila’s “obsession” with baking truly began in 2020, as a new mum during the COVID-19 lockdown.

With her baby born at just 24 weeks, it was a challenging time, but baking became a much-needed creative outlet.

As friends and family loved her interesting creations, Naila decided to take a risk and turn her hobby into a career.

Crumbb began as a wholesale business with sales made through social media.

The business gradually built traction and Crumbb opened the doors to its Bradford store in December 2025, just eight months before expanding to Leeds.

Naila said: “I always wanted a café or a bakery, it's always been my dream.

“It grew too chaotic to just be in my kitchen.”

Open from Tuesday to Sunday, Crumbb’s Leeds store has attracted a varied customer base including families, students, and even running groups.

First-time visitors have quickly become regulars, and their positive feedback has been a keen highlight for Crumbb’s founder over the past fortnight.

“We had a really lovely gentleman come in and he bought a dark hot chocolate. He came back an hour later with his wife and said he told her how nice it was and she had to try it,” Naila said.

“That made my heart melt, it was the best thing.”

Naila began selling her baked goods online and building a social media following has remained a key foundation for Crumbb.

The business has over 5,000 followers on Instagram, and in Naila’s opinion, using social media is growing increasingly important for independent businesses to get noticed.

Naila said: “No one knows about you otherwise.

“Before it used to be all word of mouth but now if you're not active on social media then your sales will drop.”

Crumbb began as a one-woman business and now Naila is leading a team of seven in Leeds.

She’s “proud” of what she’s created but has strong ambitions to keep using customer input to grow the business.

Ultimately, the ambition is to show the key ingredients of success are this: a sprinkle of creativity, a ton of teamwork, and plenty of passion too.
