Phil Nichol Brings His Award-Winning Comedy to Yorkshire

After a seven-year hiatus from touring, Perrier Award winner Phil Nichol is returning to the stage with "Trying My Best," and Yorkshire audiences will get their chance to see the Canadian comedian in action at two upcoming shows.
The multi-award-winning performer will appear at Hull's Truck Theatre on November 5th as part of Hull Comedy Festival, followed by a show at Leeds Glee Club on February 16th, 2026. These Yorkshire dates form part of an extensive UK tour that runs from October 2025 through April 2026.
Nichol's absence from stand-up comedy has been due to his acting commitments, most recently starring in the lead role of Dick Marlin in Spiegelworld's cabaret circus show "The Hook" in Atlantic City. However, "Trying My Best" marks his return to the art form that earned him the Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2006.
The show promises to showcase the best material from Nichol's extensive career, including his well-known musical comedy pieces such as "You Can't Say That to Me," "Sleazy Massage," and "Only Gay Eskimo" from his days with Canadian trio Corky and the Juice Pigs. Audiences can also expect his trademark blend of crowd work, storytelling about life as a Canadian living in the UK, and observations on modern transport and English culture.
Nichol began his comedy career in March 1987 and has since performed in 52 countries, written 23 Edinburgh Festival shows, and appeared on numerous international comedy festivals. His television work includes roles in "Catastrophe," "Uncle," "Man Down," and "Agatha Raisin," while his stage credits include originating the role of Loco Chanelle in the West End's "Everybody's Talking About Jamie."
His last tour, "Your Wrong," ran in 2018 and included over 150 shows across 15 countries. Yorkshire comedy fans now have the opportunity to catch this seasoned performer as he presents what he describes as his favourite comedy pieces at venues he enjoys visiting.
Tickets for both Yorkshire shows are available through the respective venue websites, with Hull Truck Theatre hosting the November performance and Leeds Glee Club presenting the February show.
