It’s the moment fans of the comedy Coming to America have waited more than 30 years for, as the film’s hotly-anticipated sequel is released.
Coming 2 America, starring Eddie Murphy as Akeem Joffer, will finally be aired in March 2021 after a disrupted schedule due to the ongoing Covid pandemic.

In October 2020, Amazon Studios bought the distribution rights from Paramount Pictures for a reported $125 million (£90m) for it to be screened digitally.

In an interview with All Hip Hop, Murphy let slip that an Oscar winner had been enticed to join the film’s cast, saying: “We got most of the cast back and Wesley Snipes, Morgan Freeman and Tracy Morgan.”

Prince Akeem became one of Murphy's most memorable characters in the first instalment of Coming to America in 1988.
The sequel will see him return to the African nation of Zamunda where Akeem will inherit the throne from his father.
