Wetherby Town Council announces free Saturday parking until Christmas!

Wetherby Town Council has announced that car parking charges will be suspended in designated town centre car parks from Saturday, December 13, and next Saturday, December 20.

This festive initiative is aimed at supporting local businesses and encouraging residents and visitors to not only do their Christmas shopping, but to make a full day of their visit to the market town.

Leeds City Council has offered this free parking to help support businesses and high streets during this crucial festive period.

A Wetherby Town Council spokesperson said: "This temporary suspension of charges applies to key car parks including the long stay Wilderness and Station Gardens, offering a stress-free opportunity for extended visits.

"The town’s other car parks continue to offer free parking and Sunday parking remains free in all locations.

"Wetherby is a fantastic destination, and the Town Council hopes this encourages people to visit, take a walk, enjoy a meal, and fully support the high street this Christmas."

Wetherby is regarded as a picturesque, historic market town, nestled in the beautiful West Yorkshire countryside, between the great cities of Leeds and York.

The spokesperson added: "Its enviable location means it offers all the rewards of a city in terms of excellent amenities and accessibility, but combined with the tranquil atmosphere and beauty of a traditional market town.

"The town centre is a treasure trove of independent businesses, boasting a great combination of traditional pubs, chic boutiques, independent cafés, and quality restaurants.

"Visitors can also find essential local independent retailers, including a greengrocer, butchers and an amazing hardware store."

Wetherby’s setting on the banks of the river Wharfe is one of its greatest assets. The riverside features picnic tables and numerous opportunities for gentle walks.

There are marked walks, trails, and parks throughout the town and across the countryside, including a riverside route.
