Mayor of Wakefield cuts ribbon at Pontefract show home launch
Yorkshire housebuilder Harron Homes has officially opened the doors to its brand new show home at its Castle Gardens development in Pontefract, where the Mayor of the city of Wakefield Metropolitan District, Cllr. Maureen Tennant-King, cut the ribbon to mark the occasion, accompanied by Consort Terry King and Mace-bearer Dave Jones.
The event gave staff members, contractors, and the guests of honour the opportunity to have a sneak preview of two new show homes.

Sarah Marsden, Managing Director of Harron Homes Yorkshire, conducted a speech in which she thanked members of staff and contractors for their hard work, before sharing Harron Homes’s vision for the future of the development.
The Mayor and consort were then invited to a guided tour around both show homes, finishing with a breakfast with the team, before thank you gifts were handed out to staff members and a bouquet of flowers was presented to the Mayor.
Mayor Maureen Tennant-King said: “It’s a pleasure to open the new show homes at Castle Gardens and see the high-quality homes being delivered here in Pontefract. Developments like this bring lasting benefits to our community, supporting local businesses, schools and amenities, and helping more families put down roots in the area.”
The Shelford is a spacious four-bedroom detached home combining an open-plan kitchen-diner with French doors to the garden, a bright lounge with a bay window, and four generous bedrooms including an en-suite principal.
The Brackley, a stylish three-bedroom home, features a contemporary kitchen-diner with French doors, a separate lounge and a principal bedroom with en-suite, perfect for first-time buyers and young families alike.
The name of the development pays homage to the nearby Pontefract Castle, built by Ilbert de Lacy in 1070.
Sarah Marsden, Regional Managing Director for Harron Homes Yorkshire, said: “We are delighted to welcome potential buyers to experience the show homes at Castle Gardens.
"These homes provide an excellent opportunity to see the outstanding quality and thoughtful design that define our developments.
“Castle Gardens offers a unique blend of modern living in a historic setting, and we’re confident that the Shelford and Brackley show homes will inspire visitors as they explore what could be their future home.”
Castle Gardens is made up of three- and four-bedroom homes, with prices starting from £265,000.
