Leeds’ “TV Trichologist” becomes first ‘specialist hair and scalp expert’ to achieve dual Fellowship

One of the UK’s leading hair and scalp specialists has made history on the international stage, while also challenging the idea that career success has an expiry date.

Eva Proudman FIT IATF - who holds a regular clinic at the “The Leeds Clinic” in Leeds (8 Tinshill Lane, Cookridge) - has just been awarded Fellowship status by the International Association of Trichologists (IATF) – one of the profession’s highest honours.

The award makes Eva the only trichologist in the world to hold Fellowship status with both the International Association of Trichologists and the Institute of Trichologists, placing her in a unique position within the global profession (with the letters IATF now proudly after her name, too!)

Eva says: “To be awarded Fellowship status with the International Association of Trichologists is incredibly special. Holding Fellowships with both organisations is something I’m immensely proud of, but what matters most to me is being able to bring the highest international standards of evidence‑based care to people locally in Leeds and across the UK.”

For Eva (61), the achievement is not only a professional milestone but also a personal statement, demonstrating that women can build successful careers well beyond traditional expectations. With decades of experience as a leading businesswoman, Eva reinvented her career in her late 40s after discovering her interest and aptitude in trichology, a move she now describes as “life‑changing”.

Since then, her expertise and reputation has taken her from clinic rooms to television screens, where she recently became a familiar face on TV’s highly popular ‘The Hair Loss Clinic’ as well as across social media, with a thriving Instagram platform and regular appearances and informal “expert chats”with a range of famous faces from the world of trichology and the hair industry, including celebrity stylist, Michael Douglas.

Eva’s practice has continued to grow rapidly. In addition to her Leeds Clinic, she has a network of clinics across the UK – from London and Lymington to Middlesbrough and the Midlands – and has recently opened a new satellite clinic on the South Coast. And, every client who books a consultation with UK Hair Consultants, will always be seen by Eva – whether in Leeds, or beyond!

The expansion reflects increasing demand for specialist, research‑led services nationwide.

“I  hope my personal ‘professional journey’ offers reassurance to other women, particularly those in their 50s and 60s, that it’s never too late to start something new or achieve something significant. I relaunched my career later in life and have spent the past two decades building up a thriving business. I was absolutely determined not to let age limit my ambition. This Fellowship feels like affirmation that everything is still to play for,” says Eva.

Eva’s work focuses on helping people navigate hair and scalp concerns that can profoundly affect confidence, wellbeing and identity. Her clinics offer personalised, evidence‑based assessments for both men and women living with myriad conditions including hair loss (shedding and thinning); alopecia, itchy or inflamed scalps and long‑term scalp disorders, providing clarity in an area often crowded with misinformation.

Eva adds: “I love helping people through what can be a very distressing experience. But I’m also proud to be flying the flag for working women who refuse to slow down simply because of their age.”
