Leeds-based Taekwondo Master represents GB
Leeds-based 7th Dan Taekwondo Master Kambiz Ramzan Ali MBE travelled to Brussels, Belgium, where he represented Great Britain as an International Poomsae Referee at the 2026 Belgian Open Poomsae G1 Championships.
Held on August 15 and hosted by the Belgian Taekwondo Federation, the prestigious international event welcomed athletes and officials from across Europe and beyond.
This year’s championships was staged as a World Taekwondo G1 ranking competition, giving athletes the opportunity to earn valuable points towards the World Taekwondo rankings.
For Master Kambiz, who is based in Leeds and Harrogate and has officiated at a number of major international competitions across Europe including Bulgaria G1, Macedonia G1, Germany G1, Austria G1 and London International Open G1 and European President’s Cup G3, this event was another important opportunity to represent Great Britain on the international stage.
He was joined at the championships by fellow British International Referee Master Carolina Barros Clark, with the pair proudly representing Great Britain alongside a distinguished team of International Referees from around the world.
One of the highlights of the championships was the opportunity for Master Kambiz to meet World Taekwondo President Dr Chungwon Choue, adding another memorable moment to a highly successful international event.
Reflecting on the championships, Master Kambiz said: “I am delighted to have had another opportunity to represent Great Britain and support the European Taekwondo community at the Belgian Open.
“It was a real pleasure to return to Brussels and to see so many good friends and colleagues from across the international Taekwondo community working together to support such an important G1 competition.
“I was also very honoured to meet World Taekwondo President Dr Chungwon Choue during the championships. It was a very special moment and made an already memorable event even more meaningful.
“My congratulations go to all of the athletes who competed, and my sincere thanks to the Belgian Taekwondo Federation for the invitation and hospitality. It is always a privilege to contribute to international Taekwondo and to represent Great Britain.”
Master Kambiz continues an exceptionally busy international year, combining his work as an International Referee with his leadership of KR Ali Taekwondo Academy in Harrogate and Leeds.
