Lantern Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the first month of the lunar calendar (3rd March this year), marking the end of the Chinese New Year celebrations. This festival also symbolizes family reunions and the hope for a prosperous year ahead. It is a time for families to come together, enjoy colorful lanterns, and eat sweet glutinous rice dumplings that symbolize reunion.
Organised by the Lazy Cover Art Studio and supported by Morley Town Council, That Morley Mag, Leeds-List, Crank Studios, and https://www.paulabraham.info, this event was a runaway success with the Mayor of Morley (Carol Edwards), Local Councillors (Helen Irving / Jim Aveyard), and Local MP (Mark Sewards) enjoying the friendly warm atmosphere and taking part in some of the many varied workshops.
Apart from the workshops, there were stalls for foods and crafts run by Hong Kong people. It was a memorable and magical day filled with joy and creativity.
