The North Yorkshire park has confirmed it is planning to reopen to visitors on Saturday, April 17 - and it comes with a series of brand new attractions for 2021.

There will be a new safari adventure, hot air balloons and a treetop trail - and also a sightseeing journey which will allow visitors to spot dozens of life-sized animals hiding in the grasslands.

As well as new rides, all of the park’s young family favourites will still be running including Little Dipper, Carousel, Skyrider, the Lady Bird rollercoaster, Splash Falls and many others.

Swan Boat will offer a peaceful glide around the lake, and the Lightwater Valley Express train will show the park from a whole new angle.

Lightwater Valley will operate initially with reduced capacity to ensure social distancing guidelines are maintained, and all visitors will need to pre-book tickets online.

Additional cleaning practices will take place on site and queue markers will help keep visitors a safe distance apart while they wait for each ride.

Manager Colin Bowes said: "It’s wonderful to be able to start welcoming visitors back again and we are doing everything we can to ensure they can have a great day out in a safe and secure outdoor environment.

"The emphasis is very much on providing a great day out for young families with lots of great new rides and attractions for the under 12s to enjoy."

A full list of safety measures and guidelines are available to view on the Lightwater Valley website, along with a summary of which rides will be open.
