We are blessed to have some gorgeous walking routes just a stone's throw away from the city centre.
Here, we've rounded up 13 of the best paces for a walk on this long Bank Holiday weekend:
7. Bramhope Circular
The Bramhope Circular walk is a gentle walk that begins at Bramhope, near the Fox and Hounds pub. It is approximately 5 miles.
8. Trans Pennine Trail
You can join the long-distance Trains Pennine Trail route from Knowsthorpe Quay, just 10 minutes from Leeds Dock. The Garforth to Woodlesford section is a particularly scenic part of the trail, offering countryside views.
9. Rothwell Country Park
Providing a peaceful spot away from the centre of Leeds, this 2.8 mile circular loop of Rothwell Country Park is a popular haunt among walkers and runners, and is well suited for families with little ones as it is relatively short and flat.
10. Eccup Reservoir
Eccup Reservoir offers beautiful views across the water. You can walk around the edge of the reservoir, soaking up the splendid scenery as you do so.
11. Horsforth Hall Park
Located just six miles from Leeds city centre, Horsforth Hall Park is ideal for a gentle stroll. There’s plenty of open parkland to cover and kids can be kept entertained by the various attractions, including an adventure playground, bowling green, cricket pitch and a Japanese formal garden.
12. Golden Acre Park
Sitting on the route of both the Leeds Country Way and the Meanwood Valley Trail, Golden Acre Park attracts plenty of walkers, and is known for its picturesque gardens and circular lakeside walk.
