Make some new friends with crocodiles, monkeys, butterflies, bats, snakes and a friendly family of meerkats at the popular family attraction.

It’s set in the gorgeous Roundhay Park – one of Europe’s largest, spanning 700 acres, and a maze of lakes, streams and outstanding landscaped areas which are a haven for wildlife.

Take a family walk or let the little ones burn off some energy at one of the many playgrounds and open spaces.

Tropical World is packed full of fun facts about critters from around the globe.

For example, the centre’s Butterfly area is home to between 20 and 30 species of butterflies – and its Owl Butterflies can grow up to 20cm, the same size as a large dinner plate.

Inside the nocturnal area some of the world’s weirdest animals roam – including bats and armadillos – and if you’re feeling brave you can unwind and bask in the heat with Tropical World’s resident snakes, lizards and iguanas.

You can even climb into the roof of the centre’s rainforest and get a bird’s eye view of what life is like suspended 20 metres above the floor.

After working up an appetite make the most of your adventure by stopping off at the café for refreshments.

Their stylish new conservatory overlooks the beautiful Canal Gardens where you can enjoy views both inside and outside – on those warmer days.
