Created by John Aislabie and his son William in the 18th century, the gardens feature formal, geometric designs and extraordinary vistas and carefully positioned classical statues, follies and garden buildings.
Venture along the riverside path to the deer park, where you’ll find around 500 wild red, fallow and sika deer roaming amid ancient oaks, limes and sweet chestnuts.
If the kids still have some excess energy to burn, let them run, climb and swing free in the children’s play areas before refuelling with some local delicacies at the Abbey Tearoom, Studley Tearoom or Fountains Restaurant.
