Banyan Bar and Kitchen takes over a prime 8,000sq ft site within the old Post Office building on City Square. The outside terrace can cater for up 120 people, with space for hundreds more drinkers and diners in the private dining room and two bar areas. The drinks menu has been carefully crafted, taking inspiration from distilleries and bars in New York, Venezuela and France to find the best ingredients. As well as the traditional cocktails, there are quirky new concoctions, such as the pea and mint bellini – made with sugar snap pea syrup – and the pistachio espresso martini. It also has a separate gin section with different botanicals and tonics to choose from. Brunch for 2-4 people will cost you £12.95, served until 11am every day.
