The BBC has managed to pull off another eight weeks of live Strictly shows for the 2020 series, despite coronavirus restrictions.

However, the jaw-dropping outfits, dazzling dances and harsh criticisms from Craig Revel-Horwood will draw to a close on 19 December as the BBC airs this season’s finale.

Who is in the final?

Four celebrities and their professional partners will dance for the glitterball trophy.

These are singer HRVY and Janette Manrara, comedian Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse, Eastenders star Maisie Smith and Gorka Márquez, and TV personality and businessman Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer.

Made in Chelsea star Jamie narrowly avoided eviction on 13 December, but head judge Shirley Ballas saved him and judge Craig Revel-Horwood also vouched for him.

Laing has now been in the bottom two a total of four times.

Maisie Williams, 19, is the youngest star ever to feature in the final.

Meanwhile, HRVY has helped his partner, Janette Manrara, reach the finals after seven years on the BBC show.

Should Bill Bailey win, Oti Mabuse will lift the glitterball for her second consecutive year.

Who was voted off last week?

Losing out to Jamie Laing, it was Ranvir Singh and her partner, Giovanni Pernice who got the boot on 13 December.

They performed their Waltz to Un Giorno Per Noi by Josh Groban, but Jamie and Karen executed her salsa to Last Dance by Donna Summer in a more convincing performance.

Shirley was left to cast the deciding vote when judge Motsi Mabuse chose to save Ranvir and Giovanni.

Motsi said: “Well this was really one tough decision, we had two beautiful dances, two beautiful human beings and I will save Ranvir and Giovanni.”

However, making the final decision, Ballas said: “Well again, this is very difficult because I’ve grown to love both couples. I’m getting quite emotional now.

“Musicality, determination, conviction from both teams, they just gave their all. But I just feel that one couple had a little more determination, a little bit more ‘I’m not leaving without that trophy’ and with that in mind I’m saving Jamie and Karen.”

Presenter Tess Daly asked Ranvir about her time on the show and losing out on a space in the final.

The ITV news reporter told her “I’m just really sorry for him [Giovanni], he’s worked so hard and been in so many finals that I’m really sorry I couldn’t do it for you. Sorry.”

However, Giovanni protested Ranvir’s apology, saying: “You don’t have to be sorry at all, we’ve both worked very hard, you’ve been an absolute dream to work with.

“You are a true hero, your job at 3 o'clock in the morning then you come in the room and dance with me.

"More than anything you’ve grown as a person and this for me is the most rewarding thing that I could ask for, so well done to you. Well done.”
