Guess who’s coming to town? Santa's Cabin returns to the Merrion Centre with dedicated SEND sessions

Father Christmas is packing his sleigh and heading back to the heart of Leeds as the Merrion Centre transforms into a winter wonderland complete with a cosy log cabin and quiet SEND sessions for local families

The countdown to Christmas is officially on in Leeds city centre, and a very special guest is getting ready to set up camp in his favourite festive nook.

The Merrion Centre has confirmed the return of its popular Santa’s Cabin, bringing a sprinkle of holiday magic to shoppers throughout the run-up to the big day.

Designed to feel just like Santa’s own cosy front room, the festive log cabin features a glowing fire, twinkling decorations, and mountains of presents - creating a magical backdrop for children to share their Christmas wishes with the man himself.

To make sure every child can share in the magic, the Merrion Centre is once again hosting dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) sessions.

Held during calmer times throughout the centre, these dedicated slots offer a quiet, relaxed atmosphere tailored specifically for children with additional needs.

Families visiting Santa can also make a full day of their trip to the city centre, taking advantage of festive shopping, dining, and convenient parking at the on-site CitiPark car park.

James Broughton, Head of Marketing and Communications for Town Centre Securities (TCS), owners of the Merrion Centre, said: “Santa’s Cabin has become a popular part of Christmas at the Merrion Centre, and we’re delighted to welcome it back for another year.

“It’s always lovely to see families enjoying and making special memories together. With so much to see and do across the Centre, we hope visitors will make the most of their trip and enjoy a festive day out together.”

Santa will be welcoming families to his cabin on selected dates from Saturday, 28th November right up until Christmas Eve, Thursday, 24th December 2026. To check opening times, available date slots, dedicated SEND sessions, and to book your visit in advance, head to the official Merrion Centre website.
