Though there are at times detractors towards what is still considered an art form, the great British tradition of pantomime around the winter months is as steeped in popular culture as, dare we say it, the works of Shakespeare appearing on stage or 'A Christmas Carol' being rolled out for another festive period.
The latter of which also features around Leeds this time of year—more below.
The generational enjoyment of pantomime, with the call and response and the pomp and pageantry that comes along with each performance, is something that cannot be denied, and the city is once again offering some of the finest the theatre form has to offer.
We have rounded up 13 pantomimes and festively-themed shows coming to theatres in the city over the winter months—from tried and tested classics to rock 'n' roll adaptations, and of course, a bit of room for some ballet and Charles Dickens too.
The shows in question still have tickets remaining, so if anything takes your interest, you can start making your plans by visiting either the Leeds Heritage Theatres website, Leeds Ticket Hub, or find more information on the local performances on their respective Facebook pages.
