2026 is officially a landmark year for our city as we celebrate the Leeds 400 anniversary.
It’s been four centuries since King Charles I granted Leeds its first Royal Charter in 1626, and we're marking that 400-year journey with a massive calendar of civic pride, heritage trails, and city-wide street parties that face firmly toward the future.
But the heart of the year lies in the incredible legacy of Rob Burrow.
From the emotional return of the marathon to AMT Headingley Stadium to Kevin Sinfield’s final 7 in 7 ultra-challenge, the city will once again prove why it’s the global hub for MND fundraising and community spirit.
Beyond the big milestones, the 2026 schedule is packed with international prestige and world-class culture. Whether you’re heading to Headingley for the Women’s T20 World Cup, catching the 40th edition of the Film Festival, or finding your spot on the Headrow for the 20th anniversary of Leeds Pride, there is a sense of scale this year that feels truly special.
From the ruins of Kirkstall Abbey to the bright lights of the arena, here are some of the key events and dates taking place in the city over the next year.
