The journey begins thousands of years ago in the rainforests of Central America, where ancient tribes discovered the power of cocoa. It continues through to the 18th Century, when it was embraced by York’s great Quaker families, who opened their own cocoa houses and chocolate shops.

Moving through the history of chocolate’s founding families you’ll learn the fascinating facts and surprising secrets behind their finest creations, before hearing all about factory life and stories and memories of the people of York.

Design your own chocolate bar wrapper and discover your perfect chocolate bar with a fun chocolate personality quiz before getting hands on and mastering the secrets of the chocolatier as you create and decorate your very own chocolate treat to take home. Following this, there’s the chance to see how the experts do it and watch chocolatiers at work in a tantalising chocolate-making demonstration in the production kitchen - and you can even eat the results. If after all that you’re still peckish, then make sure to stop off at the café and indulge in a spot of chocolate afternoon tea or a delicious homemade brownie.
