Dalton Gomez: who is Ariana Grande’s new fiance, how did they meet - and who has she dated before?

Ariana Grande, who recently enjoyed the top spot for six consecutive weeks in the UK charts with her song ‘Positions’, has just announced her engagement to boyfriend, Dalton Gomez.

So who is he and how long have they been together? This is everything we know about their romance.

Who is Dalton Gomez?

The real-estate agent works in Los Angeles for Aaron Kirman Group, a luxury agency selling million dollar homes to the rich and famous.

His bio on the agent’s official website reads: "extensive knowledge in the fields of architecture and luxury estates," and the low-key realtor doesn’t seem too keen on living his life in the public eye.

The 27-year-old grew up in Southern California and he has a brother called Dakota who is a tattoo artist.

Gomez used to be a dancer, which is how he is thought to have become acquainted with many singers and actors.

Despite sharing the name, he is not believed to be related to Grande’s friend and fellow pop star, Selena Gomez.

How did Ariana Grande meet Dalton Gomez?

The pair are reported by Elle to have met through mutual friends. Gomez’s former work as a dancer resulted in the two moving in the same circles.

His Instagram is private but lists followers such as Ariana’s director friend, Alfredo Flores, her backing dancer, Scott Nicholson, and her bestie, Courtney Chipolone.

Gomez also previously featured in Miley Cyrus’s Instagram story back in 2017.

How long have Ariana and Dalton been dating?

The pair began dating in January 2020. Grande has been keeping the relationship out of the limelight in contrast to her previous relationships with late rapper Mac Miller and Kanye West’s friend and fellow rapper, Big Sean.

Gomez first appeared as Grande’s official beau in May 2020 in her video for ‘Stuck with U’ which she collaborated on with Justin Beiber.

In the final minute, she is seen cosying up to Gomez, though he is hooded and hard to identify.

However, he had previously been rumoured as her boyfriend when the two enjoyed time with friends at Bar Louie in Northridge, California.

In late June, Ariana posted to her social media for her 27th birthday a selection of romantic photos of the pair together, as well as videos of them relaxing with her pet chihuahua at the poolside of her home in LA.

By August, Grande was keen to let the world know who Gomez was when she wished him a very public happy birthday in a post shared with her 211 million Instagram followers.

She captioned the string of videos and photos: “hbd to my baby my best friend my fav part of all the days :) i love u”. She also allowed comments on the post, which is something she had previously not permitted.

On 20 December 2020, Grande took to Instagram again, this time sharing a candid photo of the pair cuddling on the floor, alongside a close up of a stunning diamond ring.

She captioned the shot “forever n then some” leaving no question that the pair had become engaged.

It is not yet known where they got engaged or the circumstances of the proposal and fans could be waiting a while to find out.

Grande has previously hinted that she is purposefully keeping her man off social media in an attempt to shield him from the paparazzi circus, which her relationships have previously attracted.

Who else has Ariana Grande dated?

The singer became famous when she was a teenager, performing in the musical ‘13’. She later went on to date her co-star Graham Philips for three years.

Following this, she had short romances with celebrities including a long-distance attempt at a relationship with Australian YouTuber Jai Brooks.

Her first public relationship was with rapper Big Sean, with whom she shared the red carpet at the 2015 Grammy’s.

Grande then dated her backing singer, Ricky Alvarez for a short period before becoming Mac Miller’s girlfriend from 2016.

The rapper and singer broke up just months before his tragic death aged 26 in July 2018.

Despite not being together at the time, Grande was thought to have remained close to him and was devastated by his passing.

Prior to Mac Miller’s death, Grande became engaged to Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson in a very public romance in June 2018, which he acknowledged with several tattoos.

The couple had only confirmed they had been dating in the May of that year and by August, their engagement was called off.

Grande later told Vogue, "I met Pete, and it was an amazing distraction. It was frivolous and fun and insane and highly unrealistic, and I loved him, and I didn’t know him.”

While he told the audience of Saturday Night Live: "I know some of you are curious about the breakup, but the truth is it's nobody's business. Sometimes things just don't work out, and that's okay.

“She's a wonderful, strong person, and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world."

In 2019, Grande was reportedly romantically involved with fellow musician Mikey Foster, but this was never confirmed and she began dating Gomez at the start of 2020.
