Acclaimed singer-songwriter Ásgeir announced Leeds concert as part of UK tour - dates and tickets
The Leeds music scene is set for a dose of ethereal Icelandic folk this spring, as one of the country’s most celebrated exports, Ásgeir, has confirmed a headline date in the city
Born Ásgeir Trausti Einarsson, Icelandic singer-songwriter became an overnight sensation in 2012 when his debut album, Dýrð í dauðaþögn, became the best-selling debut in Icelandic history.
He quickly became a global name with the English-language version, In the Silence, led by the hit single ‘King and Cross.’
Lauded for his intricate folk-pop, lush production, and a wistful, emotive falsetto, Ásgeir has spent years refining a sound that sits somewhere between the atmospheric electronics of James Blake and the delicate folk of Nick Drake.

His new album, Julia, released on February 13, is being hailed as his most personal yet. Composed primarily on guitar during solo tours and designed to prioritise melody, clarity, and raw storytelling.
This record marks a significant turning point for the artist; for the first time in his decade-long career, Ásgeir has penned his own lyrics in English, stepping away from the long-standing collaborations with his father and translators like John Grant.
The result is described as a deeply contemplative and therapeutic body of work that leans heavily into his love of folk and Americana.
