He has released an acoustic version of his single Serious, with a live performance video, which is now available to stream.

“Serious has a pop/R&B mood with a futuristic sheen,” Tamaraebi, real name Daniel Tamaraebi Itombra, said.

"It’s about how sex can sometimes complicate friendships, so while sometimes it’s great to be in the moment it’s also good to know that actions have consequences.

"A lot of people really liked this song so got together with my boy [guitarist] Aaron Forbes to record an acoustic version.

"I just wanted a stripped and laid-back vibe, because the focus for me was on the vocals and guitar.”

Tamaraebi was born in Lagos before moving to Calabar in southern Nigeria, Nairobi, Sudan and Tanzania during his childhood.

He settled in Leeds when he was 16, where he first heard hip hop and “properly fell in love with music”.

While studying law at the University of Leeds, he performed at local clubs and recorded old-school, soul-pop songs as part of a trio.

After graduating and moving to London, he quit a coveted two-year law traineeship just two weeks in to focus on music.

“When I sing, that’s when I feel the most connected to everybody," Tamaraebi added.

"They’re just in the moment and we share this… thing. It’s like a big group hug and I like that. I was born to sing.”

Spectrum is now available on all streaming platforms.
