Just 15 minutes later, the organisers of Leeds and Reading festival shared his tweet and joked: "Nice one Liam Galagher … kept that quiet."

Officially making the announcement on the website, organisers said: "Your FIRST Leeds Festival 2020 headliner is none other than the legendary, Liam Gallagher.

"The former Oasis frontman will be blessing your ears with songs from his two solo albums, ‘As You Were’ and ‘Why Me? Why Not.’ while also throwing in a host of Oasis classics for good measure.

"Grab your mates, find your bucket hat and parka jacket, things are about to get Supersonic."

Liam last played the festival in 2017, taking the Friday headline slot before Muse.

Leeds Festival 2020 will take place in Bramham Park on 28 to 30 August.

Tickets are available on the website now.
