Leeds students dance their way to the top
Eight Talented dancers from Leeds have been given the opportunity of a lifetime after successfully competing for a place in some of the best dance schools in the UK.
The dancers, who completed their initial training at Phoenix Dance Theatre Youth Academy, have now been accepted into some of the UK’s most prestigious dance schools, including Royal Academy of Dance, London Contemporary Dance School, and the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, among others. Three of the students are receiving bursaries from the Leverhulme Trust. Charis Charles, director of Access and Education, said: “At Phoenix we are helping more dancers than ever to enter vocational training. There is such talent in the region, some of which would have remained undiscovered without the free places that the Leverhulme Trust provides to our Academy”.
