7. Below the Salt online exhibition
Temple Newsam's Below the Salt online exhibition of works by Catherine Bertola launches on Tuesday, April 20. It is shown alongside the first inventory of Temple Newsam House made on September 12, 1520. The exhibition explores how the house has been occupied by people and objects over the course of its 500 year history. Photographs and film have been inspired by the different aspects of the history and the extensive decorative arts collection it contains. The exhibition exposes how hierarchies have been expressed through the architecture and use of materials within the building, segregating those who lived from those who worked.
