Behind Her Eyes: cast with Eve Hewson and Tom Bateman, how many episodes are on Netflix - and what is it about?

A new drama that follows a single mother who has an affair with her psychiatrist boss is enrapturing fans on Netflix.

Behind Her Eyes came to the streaming service on 17 February, and quickly began trending high in Netflix’s daily ‘most watched’ charts.

It's a show that’s full of twists and turns – many verging on the downright bizarre – and has kept viewers gripped with its tense sexual chemistry and steamy scenes.

What is Behind Her Eyes?

Adapted by Steve Lightfoot and Angela LaManna from Sarah Pinborough’s best-selling 2017 novel, Behind Her Eyes is a six-part psychological thriller which traps an unsuspecting mother in a web of lies.

Though she is plagued by night terrors, single parent Louise leads an otherwise uneventful. That is until she enjoys a passionate dalliance with a handsome stranger – who she later discovers is her new psychiatrist boss, David.

He is married and begs forgiveness for the sake of his wife, the beautiful and seemingly-perfect Adele.

But Louise’s life takes a strange turn when she later befriends Adele, bumping into her by chance and forming a secret friendship and bond over Adele’s own history of nightmares.

Adele learned to control hers years ago through lucid dreaming, and wants to teach Louise to do the same with the help of instructions in an old journal written by a troubled friend from her past.

As Louise reads through the journal, she grows closer to the lonely and isolated Adele, she learns more about her complicated marriage and turbulent history filled with trauma and loss, and soon finds herself caught in a web of secrets and lies where nothing is what it seems.

“From there,” say Netflix, “the love triangle and web of lies unravels, exposing secrets with the help of the supernatural.”

Who stars in it?

Single mum Louise is played by Simona Brown, who has previously appeared as Grace in The Night Manager, and played main character Tess in 2018 Channel 4 series, Kiss Me First. She also appeared in an episode of Outlander as Gayle.

The handsome and mysterious psychiatrist David is played by Tom Bateman, who appeared among the ensemble cast of the 2017 film adapataion of Murder on the Orient Express, starred in the ITV dramatisation of Vanity Fair in 2018 and played the lead character in ITV's Beecham House in 2019.

Adele is played by Eve Hewson, an Irish actress who has previously been seen portraying Carol Donovan in Steven Spielberg's Best Picture-nominated Cold War movie, Bridge of Spies.

Rob – Adele’s past best friend seen in flashbacks from their time together in a psychiatric hospital – is played by Robert Aramayo, who appeared in Season 6 of Game of Thrones, and is believed to have been cast in the leading role in Amazon's Lord Of The Rings television series.

Elsewhere on the cast, Tyler Howitt (His Dark Materials) is Adam, Georgie Glen (Call the Midwife) plays Sue, Roshan Seth (Beecham House) is Dr. Sharma, while Nila Aalia (Black Narcissus) plays Geeta Sharma.
