For more than 70 years, the best of British film and TV have been recognised and celebrated at an annual ceremony.
The glitzy awards night - known as the BAFTAs - sees a host of famous faces walk out on the red carpet and rub shoulders with the industry's finest.

What does BAFTA stand for?
BAFTA is an acronym of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
The organisation was founded in 1947 as the British Film Academy before it merged with the the Guild of Television Producers and Directors to form what is now know as BAFTA.
Its mission statement is to "support, develop and promote the art forms of the moving image, by identifying and rewarding excellence, inspiring practitioners, and benefiting the public".

Hide AdBAFTA has a membership of around 6,000 people from the film, television, and more recently the video game industry.
The awards handed out each year are a form of theatrical mask designed by American sculptor Mitzi Cunliffe.
When are the 2021 BAFTAs?
In 2021, the BAFTAs are scheduled to take place on 11 April.
A longlist of nominations has been published which will be whittled down to a shortlist on 9 March, before the winners are announced at the ceremony.

How can I watch this year’s BAFTAs?
TV scheduling information is yet to be confirmed. Though the BBC has often screened the awards night on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in previous years.
