He shot a second round 68 to finish eight under, edging Andrew Oldcorn by a shot, and joint-third Peter Baker and Paul Streeter by two.

Consistency was key at Leeds Golf Centre this week, with Booth shooting two rounds of 68 in gusty conditions for a well-deserved victory. It is his second triumph of the season after defending his title at the Bedford Senior Open.

The Senior Masters Tour, which visited Yorkshire for the first time, saw Leeds Golf Centre welcoming a field of more than 65 to compete at Wike, Leeds in what was one of the biggest events outside of the European Seniors’ Tour.

Ryder Cup players, European Tour winners and PGA champions were among the line-up at Leeds Golf Centre and Nigel Sweet, the operations manager, said; “From all of us at Leeds Golf Centre, our congratulations to Mark for his well-deserved victory.

“Two rounds of 68 to finish minus eight is a tough score to beat and despite the best efforts of Andrew and the chasing pack, Mark did enough to get the win.

“It’s been a brilliant week and the response from the professionals to our first event at Leeds Golf Centre has been incredible, I can’t thank them enough for coming.
