Yorkshire Carnegie head coach Bryan Redpath told his side to 'put the competition to bed' after Saturday's win.

The victory sees Carnegie finish their regular campaign with five wins from six and a place in the last eight against Moseley in April. However, Redpath was keen to refocus his side on more pressing matters.

“The massive challenge for us now is taking on London Scottish this weekend,” he declared after Saturday’s victory.

“This competition should give us good momentum to go into the next four league matches, which are all important for us. We’ve lost more games than we should have in the Championship and we want to put that right.”

Carnegie recovered from an early wobble at the Gnoll in Neath as they recovered from 14-0 down to score 33 unanswered points. In a match where the Ospreys were twice reduced to 14 men, the forwards scored all five of Carnegie’s tries.

“In the first half, we didn’t complement each other well and had a few errors in our game that allowed the Ospreys a sniff,” added Redpath.

“But we didn’t panic at half-time, and, in the second half, we were in control which was very pleasing to see.”

In a physical encounter, Yorkshire Carnegie rang the changes in the second half as the whole squad got a run-out in competitive conditions ahead of the third-placed side’s return to Championship rugby. Winger Dan Tai, however, was forced off in the first five minutes after chasing his own kick and taking a huge hit near the touchline.

“Dan was knocked out and he’ll have to go through the concussion protocol,” explained the Yorkshire Carnegie head coach.

“It will be at least seven days until we consider him now.”

Ospreys coach Dan Griffiths added: “We put some really good phases together. It’s just those key moments like the two yellow cards that have ended up in us not getting the result.”
