NCE League: Railway line up must-win scenario to put brakes on drop threat

Harrogate Railway look to further their chances of survival in a must-win game against second-from-bottom Parkgate that would put Railway seven points clear of the hosts, writes Max Colborne.

Marlon Adams’ side will make it three wins on the bounce, if they beat a Parkgate outfit who managed to take all three points in the reverse fixture in September.

Parkgate are desperate for a win too, something they’ve achieved only once since the end of September.

Pickering Town host Albion Sports as they seek to correct their patchy form against sides below them in the table.

Meanwhile Craig Rouse’s Pontefract Collieries travel to Worksop as they look to end a run of three successive defeats. Sixth-placed Hemsworth Miners Welfare entertain Garforth Town as the away side look to make it four consecutive wins. The home side, however, seek to get back to winning ways as they suffered defeat to 19th-place Barton Town last time out.

Moving on to Division One and table-toppers Knaresborough Town face Campion, who thrashed FC Bolsover 11-1 last Saturday. Bolsover face East Yorkshire Carnegie, who have lost nine out of their last 10 games in all competitions.

Co-managed Yorkshire Amateur entertain Armthope Welfare, who have won only one in their last seven league outings.

Meanwhile, Selby Town face a second-place Eccleshill United outfit who are seeking automatic promotion to the Premier Division, as Darren Holmes’ Glasshoughton Welfare side tackle a tricky outing against sixth-placed Shirebrook Town looking to make it three wins out of three in 2018.

Elsewhere, struggling Nostell Miners Welfare make a short trip to 11th-place AFC Emley. After an impressive 2-1 win against Yorkshire Amateur last time out, Welfare look to make two wins in succession for the first time this season.
