Women's RL: Adam Cuthbertson to continue coaching Leeds Rhinos women's team

The Australian took charge of the newly-formed side last season and steered them to top spot in Super League and the Challenge Cup title, though they suffered a last-gasp 18-16 loss to Wigan Warriors in the Grand Final.

Cuthbertson said: “I am delighted to continue in my role as head coach of the women’s team in 2019.

“I really enjoyed my first season and was so proud of the team and all they achieved.

“We have a big season coming up and new challenges, but I am excited about how the team are progressing and what they can go on to achieve.”

He added: “To win two pieces of silverware in our first season and to have four players named in the England squad was a huge achievement.

“We want to build on last season’s success and be even stronger next year.

“We have a very talented team and many more coming through in our academy so I am really optimistic about the future of the team.

“We had trials for the academy last week and the standard was really strong.

“It is great to hear how the women’s team are inspiring more girls to play rugby in their schools and clubs and how the women’s game in the city is continuing to grow.”

Meanwhile, England international Rhiannion Marshall has left Rhinos to join Castleford Tigers.
