Leeds trailed twice in the first half, but kept the hosts scoreless after the break, despite being put under huge pressure.
Rhinos climbed above Hull into fifth place in the Betfred Super League table after ending a two-game losing run. There has been no more than two points between the sides in five of Rhinos’ last six games and McDermott felt yesterday was a familiar story.

“There’s a lot of improvement in us, but this week we came away with a tight win rather than a tight loss.
“You don’t come to Hull KR and expect an easy game. They were always going to put a lot of effort in with the ex-Leeds players they’ve got.
“They played with a lot of ascendancy, especially in the first half. All things considered, I’d give that a good tick, a thumbs-up as a win.

The coach added: “I thought there were some poor performers in the first half for us, we had about three blokes on the field who weren’t getting it right at all, but to keep Hull KR tryless in the second half was good.”
Forward Brett Delaney suffered a shoulder injury in the first half.
McDermott said: “Let’s hope it’s a stinger, but he may have popped his a/c joint.”
