Warrington Wolves v Leeds Rhinos - big game team news

Five members of the team which beat Hull last Thursday are included in Leeds Rhinos’ initial 21-man squad for tonight’s Betfred Super League game against Warrington  Wolves at HJ Stadium.

As he did before the Coral Challenge Cup semi-final, coach Richard Agar will rest most of his senior players ahead of the Wembley showdown with Salford Red Devils in four days’ time.

But full-back Jack Walker, who scored a brace of tries in the 40-22 win over Hull could feature and hooker Brad Dwyer, prop Tom Holroyd and back-rowers Cameron Smith and Bodene Thompson are also in contention to back up from last week.

Thompson is Cup-tied and ineligible for the Cup final.

Other experienced players in tonight’s squad are veteran forwards Adam Cuthbertson and on-loan Brett Ferres, who is also Cup-tied.

Youngsters Callum McLelland and Alex Sutcliffe have been regulars in the initial 21 this term, but the rest of the 21 is made up of young players with a handful of first team appearances between them, plus experienced former Warrington outside-back Rhys Evans and on-loan Featherstone forward James Harrison.

Second-rower Levi Edwards, who was 18th man against Catalans Dragons two weeks ago, is the only player in the squad without a Leeds first team appearance.

If selected, he will become the club’s youngest Super League player, aged 16 years, nine months and 19 days.

Warrington boss Steve Price will also make changes as Jake Mamo, Blake Austin, Mike Cooper and Joe Philbin drop out from the team beaten 18-14 by Wigan Warriors last FrIday.

Players who could come into the 17 are Sitaleki Akauola, Keanan Brand, Eribe Doro, Luis Johnson, Ellis Longstaff, Dec Patton, Josh Thwlis and Danny Walker.

Leeds Rhinos: from J Walker, Dwyer, Cuthbertson, Thompson, Evans, Smith, McLelland, L Briscoe, A Sutcliffe, Walters, Holroyd, Mustapha, O’Connor, Broadbent, Hall, Tindall, Harrison, Ferres, Whiteley, Edwards, McConnell.
