HUNSLET half-back Danny Ansell has been called into the Welsh squad for Saturday's decisive World Cup qualifier against Italy in Monza.

The 25-year-old, who joined Hunslet from Wakefield Trinity in 2012, scored 11 tries, 24 goals and a drop goal in 22 appearances for Hunslet this year and recently signed a new contract for 2017.

Ansell replaces former Leeds Rhinos academy pivot Ollie Olds, who suffered a broken hand in Wales’ 50-0 win over Serbia two weeks ago.

Wakefield forward Anthony Walker is also included in Wales’ in initial 19.

His clubmates Liam Finn and Scott Grix have been named in Ireland’s initial 19 to face Russia in Bray on Saturday.

This weekend’s victors will qualify for next year’s World Cup.

The losers will have a second chance in a play-off at Leigh next Friday.
