Wakefield Trinity Wildcats: Caretaker boss Dickens low on numbers for testing trip to Hull

Caretaker coach Stuart Dickens confirmed full-back Ben Jones-Bishop and Reece Lyne, who was one of the wingers at Langtree Park, are both likely to miss out due to injury.

Dickens is hopeful three other players – who he declined to name – will be available despite suffering knocks against Saints, but centre Jason Walton and loose-forward Tinirau Arona are both facing disciplinary charges.

Dickens said: “It’s looking like Ben Jones-Bishop and Reece Lyne won’t be available.

“Ben hurt his shoulder the week before against Catalans and aggravated that. It is like a stinger effect, so he is losing feeling, strength and power in the arm.

“With Reece it’s a combination of knee and a bit of an ankle and a dead leg as well.”

Arona has been charged with grade B dangerous contact on Saints’ Adam Swift after six minutes of Wildcats’ 44-4 defeat. Walton faces a grade B charge of making a dangerous throw on Jon Wilkin in the 67th minute.

Dickens said: “I don’t think there is much in either tackle. It makes it difficult to prepare until we know what the outcome is. We have just got to prepare as if we are going to be without them and if they are available it is a bonus.”

Meanwhile, Wildcats chairman Michael Carter has begun interviewing candidates for the club’s coaching vacancy and hopes to make an appointment this week.
