Starting as both a collection point and delivery service on December 22, the foundation set their sights on helping as many people as possible in the Wakefield area over Christmas and New Year.

Using two hubs, at Trinity’s Mobile Rocket Stadium, Belle Vue and Rycroft Leisure Centre, volunteers from the Outwood Grange Academies Trust, Minster Law, Wakefield District Housing, Wakefield Council and the Wakefield Trinity women’s rugby league and football side have turned out to deliver meals to the vulnerable throughout the city’s.

Foundation chief executive Craig Shepherd said: “I am proud on a number of points, the first part being the volunteers who have helped us reach this milestone.

“The amount of people who have volunteered and the effort that they have gone to has been outstanding.

“The second part would be that I feel we have made some sort of difference in the community.

“Seeing the people’s faces that we have helped is quite humbling and I am proud that I have been able to play some part in the project.

“Hopefully, we carry this momentum through to 2021.”
