BATLEY BULLDOGS are in a 'good place' ahead of Sunday's trip to Rochdale Hornets in Betfred Championship round one, coach Matt Diskin says.

Bulldogs were unbeaten in pre-season and Diskin reckons they have laid a platform for a strong start to the Championship year ahead.

“I am happy with how it has gone,” the coach said of Bulldogs’ pre-season campaign.

“We have built some momentum, but you can’t look too deeply into pre-season.

“Everybody is fine-tuning and the bigger picture is developing the things you’ve been working on in training – but we all want to win.”

Diskin added: “We have a long way to go, we will be constantly evolving, but we feel in a good place to start this week against Rochdale.”

Bulldogs won 36-34 at Betfred League One side Doncaster in their final trial game two days ago.

“It was all right, not bad at all,” Diskin reflected.

“We looked dangerous with the ball, though we still need to be a bit more clinical regarding some of our end skill.

“But when everybody was in the right positions we were quite clinical with the ball.

“Defensively we were okay when we had people in positions.

“I moved a lot of people around to try and preserve bodies for this week’s game, but overall I was happy.”
