Lui featured 87 times in Betfred Super League for Salford Red Devils between 2016 and last year and said: “I like to play against my old club, but it will be a tough game.

“Their style of footy, now the game is getting quick it suits teams like them so we will have to be on our toes defensively and in offense, just compete and have a bit of fun.”

After a “frustrating” lay-off, during which Rhinos lost twice, the 30-year-old Australian is itching to get back into the thick of things.

“You want to be out there with the boys, helping, but training this week has been good,” he said.

“I came in for the captain’s run [before Leeds’ game against St Helens three weeks ago] and I couldn’t move my leg.

“There was a bit of swelling there and I didn’t run until probably the start of last week.

“I’ve worked hard in the gym, getting fit again, but it is good now - at least I am running and I’ve got a few kilometres in my legs again.

“I feel good and the boys look good.”

Salford have not played since thrashing Hull 54-18 at Emerald Headingley on August 9. Their next week’s game was postponed after several Hull players returned positive test results for coronavirus and they had a bye through the Coral Challenge Cup sixth round.

Rhinos had been due to travel to Catalans Dragons on September 7, but that has also been called off following a Covid-19 outbreak at the French club and Lui admitted the situation is “concerning”.

He said: “I just thank God it’s not our team! We are just trying to do everything right. The staff here have been really good and we just want to follow the rules. We just want to play rugby. You don’t want to miss two weeks of playing so we just have to be smart as players.”
