Rivals poles apart on injury front

Shane Grady suffered a suspected broken jaw in Rams’ 20-4 home win over Whitehaven two days ago.

Coach Glenn Morrison revealed Cain Southernwood played despite having suffered a hairline fracture to a hand in the previous game.

He also sustained a knee injury and a knock to the head, but has already passed a concussion test.

Aaron Brown, who has been struggling with a knee problem, returned and played the full 80 minutes and Morrison was delighted with Scott Hales’ performance in his first game of the year.

“For me he was man of the match,” said the Rams coach. “He was back to his best, he did the little one percenters, in the right place at the right time.”

Rovers, meanwhile, came through their 20-6 home win over Oldham – who had beaten Dewsbury the week before – with no major new injury concerns.

“It was hard-fought,” Featherstone boss Jon Sharp said of his team’s third successive win.

“Oldham played really well, but we defended extremely well and I thought it was probably the most dangerous we have looked this year with the ball.

“It was another step forward for us.”
